Compression Height Calculation Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the compression height.

Compression Height = Deck Height - (Stroke Length / 2) - Rod Length

Variables:

  • Compression Height is the distance from the center of the wrist pin to the top of the piston (mm)
  • Deck Height is the distance from the crankshaft centerline to the top of the block (mm)
  • Stroke Length is the distance the piston travels from top dead center (TDC) to bottom dead center (BDC) (mm)
  • Rod Length is the length of the connecting rod (mm)
